At SAFECO Field, the St. Paul faithful were treated to an intriguing pitcher's
duel. Paul Byrd(4-4) finally bested his Burbank counterpart, Jon
Lester(2-8), by the score of 3 to 1.

Burbank lost it in the 3rd inning when St. Paul did all their damage when they
tallied 3 runs on 2 hits. The early run support proved sufficient for Byrd
and St. Paul. That was all the run support Byrd required. The pitchers took
over after the 3rd inning as neither team was able to score again.

George Sherrill earned the save, his 4th. Lester ended up with the loss. The
St. Paul ballclub's record now stands at 27-26. Burbank has a record of
16-37, worst in the division after the loss.
